What is “Botox”?
“Botox” is the colloquial name for botulinum toxin — a medicine that has been established in aesthetic medicine for decades. Injected precisely into individual expression muscles, it temporarily reduces their activity. Expression lines such as frown lines, horizontal forehead lines or crow's feet can visibly smooth out as a result. Correctly dosed, your face remains fully mobile — no “frozen” look, simply a more awake, fresher appearance.
Which lines can be treated?
Only lines caused by facial movement are treated — not those resulting from volume loss or sun damage. Typical areas are:
- Forehead lines — the horizontal lines that appear when raising the eyebrows. Restrained dosing matters here so the brows do not drop.
- Frown line — the vertical line between the eyebrows that often makes the expression appear stern or tired.
- Crow's feet — the fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes that show when smiling.
Which areas are suitable for you — and whether any are — is something we determine together, based on your facial movement, during the consultation.
How the treatment works at our practice
Medical consultation & analysis of facial expression
We observe your facial expressions in motion, discuss your wishes and inform you in detail — only then is the decision made for or against a treatment.
Preparation
Cleansing and disinfection of the skin; because the needles are so fine, anaesthesia is generally not required.
Injection
Small amounts are placed precisely at the previously marked points — this takes only a few minutes and is well tolerated.
Check-up
The effect develops over about two weeks. If you wish, we assess the result together at a check-up appointment and make gentle adjustments.
Natural results as a principle
Our aim is a result that no one recognises as “done”: your facial expression is preserved, and only the overactive muscle areas are calmed. That is why we deliberately dose conservatively — more can always be added, but it cannot be taken back. Many of our patients from Wiesbaden, Mainz and the Rhine-Main region value precisely this restrained, medical approach.
For patients from the Rhine-Main region
Our practice is centrally located in Wiesbaden and easy to reach from across the Rhine-Main region. Many patients come from Mainz, Frankfurt am Main, the Rheingau and the Taunus — often because they are looking for conservatively dosed, physician-led treatment and are happy to drive twenty minutes for it.
Price
Treatment starts at €220 and is billed transparently according to the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ). The exact amount depends on the areas treated and the extent of treatment — you will receive a clear overview before your treatment, with no hidden costs.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the effect of Botox last?
The effect varies from person to person and often lasts around three to six months. After that, the body breaks the active substance down completely and muscle activity returns. A refresh is possible at any time.
Does the treatment hurt?
The injections are performed with very fine needles and are experienced by most people as a small pinprick. Anaesthesia is generally not required; the treatment takes only a few minutes.
When will I see the result?
The effect usually sets in after two to three days and can be fully assessed after about two weeks. If you wish, we will then review the result together.
Will I look “done”?
Not with the right dosage. We deliberately work with restraint so that your facial expressions are preserved — the aim is a rested, relaxed expression, not a mask-like face.
What are the risks and side effects?
As with any treatment, side effects are possible: small bruises or redness at the injection sites, occasionally headaches. Rarely the substance affects neighbouring muscles and can temporarily cause a heavier eyelid — this resolves completely. That is why treatment is carried out exclusively by a physician and only after detailed consultation.
Can I go out in public afterwards?
Yes. Small injection-site redness usually subsides quickly. On the day of treatment, you should simply avoid sport, sauna and rubbing the treated areas.
As with any medical treatment, side effects and risks cannot be ruled out. We inform you about individual risks, possible alternatives and the course you can expect in a personal medical consultation before every treatment.
