PRP for Hair Loss in Wiesbaden — the Cause First, then the Treatment

Hair loss has very different causes — from iron deficiency and thyroid disorders to hereditary predisposition. That is why at the private practice of Hanna Kohlert in Wiesbaden, clarification comes first, not the syringe. Only once the cause is established does a decision about PRP or other procedures make sense at all.

Duration Consultation approx. 45 min. Price Clarification from €80 Location Wiesbaden practice

Why clarification comes first

Hair loss is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Thinning hair can be caused by iron or vitamin D deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, hormonal changes, medication, a past illness or hereditary predisposition. Each of these causes calls for a different approach.

If treatment is given without clarification, the actual cause remains — and the treatment cannot work at all. That is why we begin with medical history, scalp findings and, where appropriate, laboratory analysis.

What PRP is — and what it is not

In PRP treatment (platelet-rich plasma), blood is taken from you, processed, and the platelet-rich portion is introduced into the scalp. The growth factors it contains are intended to support the activity of the hair roots.

Important for context: PRP is not a remedy for every form of hair loss and no substitute for treating an underlying condition. The evidence is strongest for certain forms of hereditary hair loss; the effect varies individually and cannot be predicted. In areas that are already scarred or have been hairless for years, no effect is to be expected. We discuss these limits openly before you decide.

How it works in our practice

Hair Consultation

Detailed medical history, assessment of hair and scalp, clarification of possible triggers. Where necessary we arrange a laboratory analysis.

Discussion of findings

We discuss the results and whether PRP is an option for you — or whether another route makes more sense, such as treating a deficiency or a course of active ingredients.

Treatment

Blood collection, processing and introduction into the scalp. The session takes about an hour; afterwards the scalp may be briefly reddened and sensitive to touch.

Progress and monitoring

Several sessions at planned intervals are usual. We assess progress together — with realistic expectations and the willingness to end a concept if it does not deliver.

Easily reached from Mainz and Frankfurt

The practice is centrally located in Wiesbaden. As hair treatment runs over several sessions, many patients come to us regularly from Mainz, Frankfurt am Main and the Taunus.

Price

The hair consultation including clarification starts at €80, a PRP treatment at €250 per session. Laboratory costs are billed separately. All services are billed according to the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ); these are private services.

Frequently asked questions

Does PRP help with every form of hair loss?

No. The strongest evidence exists for certain forms of hereditary hair loss. In scarring forms or areas that have been hairless for a long time, no effect is to be expected. Whether it makes sense in your case is decided after clarification.

How many sessions are needed?

Several sessions at planned intervals over a few months are usual, followed by refreshers where appropriate. The exact number depends on the findings and is discussed in advance so you can gauge the effort involved.

Is the treatment painful?

The blood collection is equivalent to a normal venipuncture. The introduction into the scalp is experienced differently — usually as a brief burning sensation. A numbing cream can be used on request.

When does a change become apparent?

Hair growth is slow. First changes can be assessed after about three months at the earliest, a reliable judgement after six. Anyone expecting faster results will be disappointed — we say so beforehand.

What are the risks?

As the body's own material is used, allergic reactions to it are not to be expected. Redness, tenderness or small bruises on the scalp are possible, as are circulatory reactions during blood collection. We explain all risks personally before treatment.

As with any medical treatment, side effects and risks cannot be ruled out. We inform you about individual risks, possible alternatives and the course you can expect in a personal medical consultation before every treatment. Begin with a conversation.

The first step is clarification — only then can we say whether PRP is the right path for you at all.
